Fryderyk Chopin was a devotee of coffee and health-promoting beverages - especially acorn coffee. We can read about it, among others, in his letters to his family, which he wrote in the form of "Kuryer Szafarski" from Szafarnia, where in 1824 he was on holidays..
August, 16
„(…)- J. P. Jakub Chopin drinks six cups of acorn coffee every day, and Mikolajek eats four scones every day, incidentally besides a powerful dinner and three-course supper.(…)”

August, 19
Sender : Fryderyk Chopin (Szafarnia)
Addressee: Father Chopin Mikołaj (Paris)
„On August 19, 1824. National News (...) On 18th and onward b. JP. FF. M. I. Chopin drank seven cups of acorn coffee; he will very likely have as many as eight any day soon.”
* This letter is not in the collections of the Chopin Museum in Warsaw; it is missing. The autograph of Kurier Szafarski from August 19, 1824 was kept by the Chopin family. Most probably, it was demaged in 1863 (it was then in the apartment of Izabella Barcińska, sister of Chopin, in Warsaw). ). The family had previously put the autograph within Kazimierz Wójcicki’s reach, who published a fragment of content in 1856. Subsequent editions of Chopin's correspondence provide content based on this publication. On the NIFC website, Kurier's content is given by the widely published edition of Chopin's Correspondence from 1955. The latest study was published in Chopin's Correspondence from 2009. The content remains unchanged there.
